Many of the places that I have visited offer plentiful opportunities for volunteering, a great way to get to know a country and ‘part finance’ a trip.
My first independent travel experience took place during a trip to Israel, in 1997. It was supposed to be a diving holiday but due to health reasons I couldn’t dive. Instead I took to the buses and explored as much of the country as I possibly could. It was here that I caught the travel bug, which was to change the course of my life for ever.
In 2001 I took an 8-month sabbatical and travelled extensively around South East Asia. After that I focused on exploring Eastern Europe, India, and Bangladesh. Since 2013 I have been visiting the countries that make up Latin America (South and Central America), along with the Caribbean – a fascinating continent that you can read more about in my blogs.
I hope you find the content amusing, interesting, but most important of all – inspirational!
