There\u2019s something quietly magical about Nanyuki. The town sits on the high plains of central Kenya with Mount Kenya\u2019s jagged peaks watching from the south and the wide Laikipia plateau stretching north toward the frontier. But what makes most travelers stop here isn\u2019t only the mountain views or the promise of nearby safaris\u2014it\u2019s a simple yellow sign that marks the center of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Nanyuki equator marker is wonderfully unpretentious. No grand monument, no entrance gate\u2014just a bold sign and a cluster of cheerful guides waiting to demonstrate that you can, in fact, stand in both the Northern and Southern Hemispheres at the same time.
