Life is undeniably tough here. In rural areas, subsistence is a daily reality, and access to education and healthcare is far from guaranteed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were moments on this trip that caught me off guard emotionally. The contrast with life in the West is stark \u2014 not in statistics, but in daily realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And yet, what shines through the most is the warmth of the people that I interacted with. Despite economic challenges, the people I met were generous with their time, help, and smiles \u2014 especially in Uganda and Rwanda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time moves differently here. Life is slower. Patience is essential. And somehow, that rhythm is grounding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

East Africa is breathtaking. The landscapes are vast and dramatic; the lakes, hills, and savannahs are unforgettable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The contrast in costs is striking. Outside tourist areas, it\u2019s possible to travel comfortably on under \u00a320\/day. In tourist zones, costs can quickly rise to \u00a3200\/day or more \u2014 a divide that mirrors broader economic realities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This journey has been a mix of beauty, perspective, discomfort, gratitude, and admiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve eaten more curries in East Africa than anywhere else \u2014 even India \u2014 a reminder of the region\u2019s layered history and cultural influences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve clung on to the back of a motorbike more times in the last two months than in my entire life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And my final country \u2014 Rwanda \u2014 left me truly inspired. The land of a thousand hills, countless problems, and countless solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anything is possible in this world \u2014 as long as there is a willingness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This trip wasn\u2019t simple. It wasn\u2019t always comfortable. But it was totally worth it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s a big difference between reading about a place and spending time in it. It\u2019s also easy to have opinions from a distance. It\u2019s different when you\u2019ve been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
